Here is what happened:
Actor Danny Masterson has begun serving his sentence for two rape convictions by being admitted to a California state prison. According to records obtained, he has been moved to North Kern State Prison in Delano, Calif. He had previously been held in Los Angeles County jail and is eligible for parole in June 2042.
Following his sentencing, his wife Bijou Phillips filed for divorce after more than 11 years of marriage. In her filing, she requested legal and physical custody of their daughter, Fianna Francis Masterson, 9. The actor later signed over full legal and physical custody of the child to his estranged wife and requested visitation rights.
Masterson had taken a trip to the Bahamas with Fianna recently, along with her sister’s family and friends. Bijou shared a photo of herself sunbathing on a beach alongside her brother-in-law, Billy Baldwin, on her Instagram on Dec. 20 and wrote, “Having the most needed vacation ever!”
Several of Masterson’s family members and friends wrote character letters in support of him during his trial. Among them were his That ’70s Show costars Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, who later released a video message on Instagram expressing their awareness of the pain caused by the letters and their support for victims.
