He writes and performs material in both English and French. He won the Juno Award for Male Vocalist of the Year in 1994. In 1997 he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada. His full name is Joseph Armand Roch Voisine and he was born in Edmundston, New Brunswick, Canada. he studied at studied at ecole technique de metiers de Lauzon in Levis and Polyvalente de Levis before graduating from the University of Ottawa with a degree in physiotherapy in 1985.
